Fees & Payment
Private consultation fees
Private rheumatology consultations are available for both self-pay patients and patients with private medical insurance.
Consultation fees are shown clearly below. Investigations such as blood tests, X-rays, scans and other diagnostic tests are charged separately by the hospital and are not included in the consultation fee.
Self-pay consultation fees
Self-pay patients can book a private consultation directly without a GP referral. If you are using private medical insurance, please check whether your insurer requires a referral or pre-authorisation.
New patient consultation
£250
A comprehensive initial rheumatology consultation, including assessment of your symptoms, medical history, examination where appropriate, and review of relevant previous investigations.
Follow-up consultation
£170
Review of your progress, investigation results and treatment, with further recommendations where required.
Joint & Soft Tissue Injections
Charges vary and are additional to the consultation fees.
Tests and investigations
The consultation fee covers your consultation with Dr Campbell. If further investigations are required, these are charged separately by the hospital and are not included in the consultation fee.
This may include blood tests, X-rays, ultrasound, MRI or other scans and diagnostic investigations.
Where investigations are recommended, Dr Campbell will explain why they are being requested. For self-pay patients, the hospital can provide information about the cost of tests and investigations.
What is included?
- Consultant-led specialist assessment
- Review of your symptoms and medical history
- Clinical examination where appropriate
- Review of relevant previous investigations
- Discussion of the diagnosis or possible causes of symptoms
- Recommendations for further investigation or treatment
- Clinic letter following the consultation
- Communication with your GP where appropriate
Blood tests, X-rays, scans, other investigations, medications and hospital procedure charges are not included in the consultation fee and may be charged separately.
Private medical insurance
Dr Campbell is recognised by major private medical insurers.
If you are using private medical insurance, please check the terms of your policy and obtain any necessary authorisation before your appointment. Your insurer may ask for Dr Campbell’s details and the hospital at which you will be seen.

Coverage varies between insurers and individual policies. Investigations, procedures and treatments may require separate authorisation from your insurer, and patients remain responsible for any excess or charges not covered by their policy.
Cancellations and missed appointments
Please provide as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend your appointment.
